Empowering Youth Through Storytelling and Mental Health Awareness

The Wan De Project is a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering young people in Sierra Leone to openly discuss mental health and substance misuse. By embracing the power of storytelling, a cornerstone of Sierra Leonean culture—we aim to create an environment where young people can speak openly about mental health challenges, while breaking down the stigma associated with substance misuse.

The project is called "Wan De" which translates to "Once Upon a Time" in Krio. This title symbolizes a fresh start, a new chapter in mental health conversations, allowing us to tell stories that educate and inspire. "Leh We Talk" (Let us Talk) is a phrase commonly used in Sierra Leone when serious, important discussions are about to begin, and this spirit of openness is at the heart of the Wan De Project.

Leh We Talk

We are empowering people in Sierra Leone by fostering open dialogue, reducing stigma, and equipping them with coping strategies and job skills to enhance well-being and employability.
